"I am legend, you are small fry"

Films: I am Legend (2007)

Alias: None

Type: Mutant

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of average humans.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: There have been MANY adaptations of the classic Richard Matheson story of one man's legacy in the middle of an apocalypse. But now, we must have a modern telling of it all. One that...could have honestly been better.

History: Robert Neville is living with his dog in New York City, living a rather lonely life. Lonely because everyone is dead due to a virus originally created to cure cancer. Instead, it turned almost all of society into ravenous vampire-like beasts known as the Dark Seekers, who come out mostly at night as their name would imply. But is there more to these creatures than he gives them credit for? Probably not. He's too busy trying to find a cure to care.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After keeping a female Dark Seeker prisoner for some time, the alpha male and his group storm in...and reveal that they just wanted their comrade back. Robert allows her freedom, and the beasts leave without a second thought. Oh wait, that was the original ending. Nah, the Dark Seekers are just monsters and Robert sacrifices himself so that his new cure can be spread across the world. Sheesh. We get the need to have a little more hope, but come on!

Powers/Abilities: Incredible strength.

Weakness: None of them are particularly fond of the light.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Okay, so maybe the CGI isn’t the best for its time, but it's hard to deny that the Dark Seekers are intimidating. They have just enough human looks to fall straight into the uncanny valley...and yet they are just as scared of Robert as he is of them. Hence the title, "I Am Legend". Stupid focus group ending.

Trivia: -Indeed, this film was much reviled for chickening out of its original, more faithful ending. In fact, the original was included on the DVD as the "controversial" ending. Eh, you mean "actual" ending?

-If you can believe it, several drafts for a prequel were conceived, which included such insanity as infected elephants and a mass infection during the Macy Days Thanksgiving Parade. Naturally, they all fell through.

Obviously! He has a dog and...wait...not again...

Cry apocalypse and let loose the dogs of war!

"My pogs! MINE!"

Shown if the executives would just shut up.
"Hey, when did the monsters get a flag nowadays?!"

If you saw the original ending, her rage makes sense.
Run from this symbol. It might as well replace the American Flag.
